DEACON NOMINATIONS

Deacon Nomination Form

First Baptist Church of Winter Garden is a Pastor-led, Deacon-served church. Each year we nominate godly men from within our church body to be considered for a 3-year term of service as an active Deacon, with terms commencing in January.

Nominations for 2027 are due by Sunday, September 27.

Definition of an Active Deacon

An Active Deacon is a model Church Member, Officeholder (serving a 3-year term), Servant Leader, Doer, and Protector of pastors/staff, church priorities, as well as the peace and unity of FBC.

Confidentiality & Process

Please know that this nomination process is strictly confidential. All submissions will be prayerfully reviewed by Leadership as we seek to maintain the health, unity, and ministry capacity of our growing church body. Please note that both new nominees and those who have served as Deacons in the past must undergo the same testing process, as we recognize that being qualified in the past does not mean being qualified indefinitely. Once all candidates have been reviewed, those selected will be contacted to undergo a testing process to ensure the nominee is called and ready to commit. Once confirmed, we will vote on new Deacons at our December Church Business Meeting.

A Note on Nominating Family: To help protect the integrity of this process, we ask that you refrain from nominating your own spouse or an immediate family member (parent, child, or sibling).

Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting a nomination, please take into consideration whether they meet the following criteria:

  • Unity & Alignment: As protectors of our church's unity, Deacons must be fully aligned with FBC’s vision, mission, and direction. Nominations for individuals who appear to be "feeling things out" or uncertain regarding their standing with the church should be postponed at this time.

  • Faith: Must have been a born-again Christian for at least two years, having testified publicly of personal, saving faith in Jesus through believer's baptism by immersion.
  •
  • Character: Demonstrates character in alignment with 1 Timothy 3:8–13, bearing fruit in line with these qualifications.
  •
